We wouldn’t have reached this point without all of the talented and committed musicians and artists who participated in the workshops and development of this project. I want to thank American Opera Projects for their support, conductor Sara Jobin and director, Leslie Swackhamer, for their insight and musical and dramatic leadership, and all of the incredible singers who participated in 3 workshops over 3 years: Lucy Fitz Gibbon, Deanne Meek, Risa Renae Harman, Kendra Broom, Aleks Romano, Katherine Pracht, Vira Slywotzky, Evie Stambler, Ian McCuen, Thor Arbjornsson, Randall Scarlata, Ron Loyd, Michael Scarcelle, and Nicholas Masters. Steve Gorn on bansuri and Jonathan Singer on tablas joined forces with our remarkable ensemble musicians: Anne Sophie Anderson, Hikaru Tamaki, Christopher Cooly, Rafi Malkiel, Frank Cohen, Mark Patterson, and Chieh-Fan Yu. Tandy Cronyn and Rosi Ware narrated. And holding it all together was our stage manager, Rebecca Monroe, and our cultural consultant, Humaira Ghilzai. We gave presentations at the Opera Center in NYC (2015, 2017), Studios of Key West (2016), and were even included in Opera America’s New Works Forum with full orchestra in 2016. John Feldman beautifully filmed and edited all of the workshops. Thanks to the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation and the NEA and many others for financial support. THANK YOU EVERYONE. This was a gargantuan effort. I could not have done this without you.
